Winning Form selections for racing from Turffontein on Thursday 7th May where there are huge prizes available in the free to enter @Hollywoodbets Punters Challenge
Race 1
JIMMY VEGA took time to find his feet on debut, but stayed on to finish fourth. The son of Malmoos would have gained from the experience. Keagan de Melo is booked to ride and with the natural improvement that is expected, he may be the one to beat.
PLATINUM SHAY’S last two starts have been fair. The daughter of Danon Platina is a progressive type and may be the one to fill the exacta spot.
PISTA RESISTANCE finished 1.2 lengths behind the second choice on debut. She would have come on from the outing and should make the natural progression. She is carded to race on 30 April 2026 and her progress in that race will need to be monitored.
Race 2
PROPER showed good improvement when fourth over 1400m on the Standside course last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. The manner in which he finished off his race suggests that he will enjoy the rise to 1600m. He is a progressive type, should strip much fitter and may have more to come.
SUTTER’S MILL ran a fair race on debut over 1400m on the Standside course. The son of Fire Away would have come on from the run and should enjoy the rise to 1600m. He should make the natural improvement.
ROCK MY BOAT found one too good in the form of Tracksuit Dave last time. He finished 6.3 lengths behind the top choice in his penultimate run. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights which is not enough to turn the form around.
Race 3
GREEN MACHINE showed improvement when second over this distance at the Vaal last time. He challenged strongly, but found one too good in the form of Thoonsil. Callan Murray steps back into the saddle and if confirming his recent improvement, he can go one better.
SAMUEL SHARPE was doing his best work late when third over 1800m on this course last time. The son of Flower Alley should enjoy the rise to 2000m and is one of the leading contenders.
EMERALD CITY ran a fair race over 1800m at the Vaal last time. He would have come on from the outing and should strip much fitter. The son of Mambo In Seattle can finish in the placings.
Race 4
LADY ELLIOT ran a good race when second over 1450m on this course last time. She stayed on at the finish but found one too good in the form of American Beauty. The daughter of Erupt takes a drop in class and from her good draw of two, she can notch up her third-career victory.
LONGSWORD has finished third in his last two starts, the latest of which was over 1200m on the Hollywoodbets Greyville polytrack. He has the speed to overcome the widest draw and may be hard to peg back.
ADA LOVELACE followed up her maiden win with a good second-place finish over this distance at the Vaal. She takes a drop in class and will be mowing down the frontrunners.
Race 5
OKLAHOMA SMOKESHOW has good recent form to his name. He set the pace over this distance on the Vaal Classic course last time and stayed on at the finish. It must be noted that Golden Operator has come out and won again since. He always gives of his best and can notch up his third-career victory.
GRAN CANARIA returns from a 12-week break and is having his first run for the Weiho and Warrick Marwing stable. He has some decent Western Cape form to his name. If settled into his new surroundings, he should go close.
FRERE JACQUES is lightly raced with good form lines to his name. He returns from a 24-week break which may have done him the world of good. If not in need of this outing, he should be competitive.
Race 6
ORANGE COUNTY was an easy winner of his last start over 1800m on the Standside course. He hit the front at the 250m mark that day and quickened away from the field. The son of Flower Alley received a five-pound penalty for that victory. 2.5kgs claiming Apprentice Jacey Botes retains the ride, and he can follow up.
CHESTNUT BOMBER’S last two starts have been fair. He takes a drop in class and should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
ROBERT BROWNING has good consistent form lines to his name. He raced from a handy position over 2000m on this course last time and stayed on to finish third. The son of Canford Cliffs should produce another honest performance.
Race 7
BAY EMPIRE has finished second in his last two starts over 1400m on the Standside course. He raced from a handy position last time before getting outrun late by Michael Faraday. Apprentice Blaine Marx- Jacobson takes the 2.5kgs off his back which should assist his cause. From his good draw of two, he can return to winning ways.
MATTIAZO ran a decent race when fourth over 1450m on this course last time. He has won twice, finished second once and third twice from eight starts over this distance. He is likely to race on the pace and may be hard to peg back.
PROPHET finished 0.8 lengths behind GOLDEN ASPEN last time. He is 1kg better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish
