Winning Form selections for racing from the Vaal on Thursday 1st October where there are huge prizes available in the free to enter @Hollywoodbets Punters Challenge
Race 1
There are eight unraced runners in the field, so a keen eye should be kept on the betting market. Of the raced runners, VISION OF GOLD may well prove to be the best. She finished third on debut over 1200m, 1.25L behind the winner and would have gained from the experience. With the natural progress that is expected, she could find the winner’s box.
GO FOR BROKE started at restricted odds when only finishing third, 7.1L back from the winner. She drops in trip and might do better as a result.
MULHOLLAND DRIVE finished third first time out but has disappointed since. She gets gate two and is worth giving another chance in this line-up.
Race 2
TWO TIGERS has consistent form lines to his credit, having finished second in his last two starts, the latest over 1200m, beaten just a neck. He retains the services of Muzi Yeni and will be hoping to go one better here.
ALL TIME LEGEND lost a shoe when finishing an improved third over 1200m, 2.5L behind the winner. If he is able to build on that he should be right up there when they hit the line.
LUCKY AWESOME was slow away and baulked for a run between the 400m and 150m mark last time. With better luck in running, he should be considered a big runner here.
Race 3
This is likely a tricky race with plenty of runners in with a realistic chance of finding the winner’s box. The tentative top pick is TROMPE L’OEIL who is a two-time winner from just five starts. He comes with a strong reputation and with Blaine Marx-Jacobson up, he could record his third career victory here.
WALKINGINTHEWOODS put 6.5L between himself and the opposition to win going away on debut. He takes on stronger here but could be anything.
STAGGERWING is a three year old filly taking on males and has finished second in her last two starts. She finished close-up behind the winner on both of those occasions and should be a factor again in this line-up.
Race 4
NKANDLA GOLD won his latest outing over 1200m by 2.2L. His stable has been amongst the winners lately and a quick double is very much on the cards.
His stable companion BELL OF ANGELUS finished fourth in her latest outing over 1200m, 4.25L behind the winner, after attracting betting support. She would have come on from that run and makes a solid back-up for the Brett Webber yard.
ROYAL HORIZON showed marked improvement to finish third in her latest start over 1200m and will be looking to build on that effort. She needs to get away on terms to be competitive here.
Race 5
TAKING A RISK is a four year old filly who has finished second in her last three starts, the latest over the minimum trip, 1.25L behind the winner. She was returning from a 15 week rest that day and was finishing off her race well. The filly will be hoping to go one better here.
ECHOES OF WAR is a speedy sort who was run out if late when 3.5L behind the winner. He hails from the Fabian Habib yard and could be the biggest threat to the top choice.
SURREAL SONG followed up her penultimate run victory with a fourth place finish next time out over the same trip.
Race 6
OPEN HIGHWAY returns from a 13 week rest, but had solid form before the break, finishing second in his last outing over a mile, 0.3L behind the winner. If not too much in need of the run, he could make a winning return.
MASTER CHRISTMAS finished 1.3L behind SECRET CHORD last time. He is 4kgs better off at the weights which should be enough to turn the form around.
SECRET CHORD won a game race in his last start but will find it tougher at the weights this time around.
Race 7
SWORD OF LIGHT had her consistency rewarded with a three length victory to secure her maiden win last time out over 1200m at the seventh time of asking. She went from jump to wire that day and from draw nine, she is likely to attempt similar frontrunning tactics today.
TOP SHELF TEDDY returns from a 13 week absence but had followed up her penultimate run victory over 1600m with a sixth place finish next time out over the same journey, 2.9L adrift of the winner. The engaging of Craig Zackey catches the eye.
XTATIC has only had the four runs to date winning her penultimate start over 1600m and then finishing second next time out over 1700m, 2.8L back from the winner. She drops back to 1600m and could secure another winner for the hot St John Gray yard.
Race 8
SEA CHANTY has consistent formlines to his credit, finishing second to SPY STORY by 1.7L last time out over this C&D, but he is 3.5kgs better off at today’s weights, so he should be able to reverse that last result.
COMMANDER OF ALL in turn did beat the latter by a length in his last outing over this same C&D, but he is 1kg worse off at today’s weights, so there should not be too much separating the pair when the reach the winning post.
NOBLE SAINT has only had two runs to date, finishing fourth on debut over 1200m and then showing the expected improvement to win by three and a half lengths next time out over this C&D. He should have come on further with that run and he could spoil the party for the top three picks
