Race 1

SNAP YOUR FINGERS was a beaten favourite over 1600m at Turffontein last time. Her debut effort when second over this distance, catches the eye. The daughter of Futura has scope and unless one of the first timers have ability, she can shed her maiden tag.

EMPRESS OF PEACE took time to find her feet on debut and stayed on at the finish. The daughter of Declarationofpeace would have gained from the experience and should love the rise to 1400m. With the natural improvement that is expected, she should pose a threat.

SECRET FATE is an unraced daughter of Master Of My Fate and she is the stable companion of the top choice. Keagan de Melo is booked to ride. If not in need of the run, she should start her career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her and the other unraced entrants.

Race 2

RAPTOR KING produced a promising debut effort over 1200m on this course. He was slow into stride, but finished off his race well. The son of New Predator would have gained from the experience and should love the rise to 1400m. With the natural improvement that is expected, he may be the one to beat.

LIFE IN COLOUR showed good improvement when third over 1160m at Turffontein last time. The son of Malmoos is a progressive type and if seeing out the 1400m, he may be the one to fill the exacta spot.

DISDAIN is an unraced son of Futura from the Michael Azzie stable with Gavin Lerena in the irons. If not too green in running, he should start his career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to him and the other first timers.

Race 3

DESTINY’S DREAM ran a good race when second in her stable debut over 1160m at Turffontein. She moved up well before getting caught late by Drachenfutter. The daughter of Master Of My Fate would have come on from the outing and with Gavin Lerena in the saddle, she can go one better

MISS FANTASTIC produced a promising debut effort over this C&D. She returns from a 17-week break, during which time she would have strengthened up. If not in need of the outing, she should pose a threat.

RENDEVOUS IN RIO returns from a lengthy 38-week break. She has finished second in both her efforts over this distance. Muzi Yeni rides and if fit, she should give a good account of herself.

Race 4

SANDS OF VALHALLA is the top bet on the programme. He produced a promising debut effort over this C&D. The son of Erik The Red showed good speed before getting outrun late by Egremont. He would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, he should take a power of beating.

HIGHWAYMAN HARRY challenged strongly last time, but found one too good in the form of Geostorm. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

BERRY LANCER showed good improvement when third over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course last time. He gets the blinkers fitted which should keep his mind on the task at hand. If confirming his recent improvement, he should have a say.

Race 5

FUTUREWOLFF is a winner of his last two starts, the latest of which was over this C&D. He moved up well that day and drew clear of the opposition. The son of Futura is in a good space and can bring up the hat-trick.

DAMOVA finished 3.1 lengths behind the top selection last time. She is 1kg better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result. She runs well for Craig Zackey and merits healthy respect.

BELLEROPHON is better than his last start in the Grade 2 TAB SA Derby. He has won once, finished second once and third once from four starts on this course. On best form shown, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 6

WOMAN’S WORLD ran a cracker when third in the Listed East Coast Cup last time. She set the pace and tried hard all the way to the line. The blinkers seem to have done the trick on the daughter of Global View and she can notch up her fifth-career victory.

RINGA RINGA ROSES has good consistent form to her credit. She was outrun late over 1450m on the Turffontein Inside course last time. She is having her peak run and is one of the leading contenders.

FIRE IN HER SOUL is the stable companion of the second choice. She was reported to be coughing in the Listed Betway Mother Russia Stakes last time. The 19- week break would have done her the world of good and if not in need of the outing, she should be right there.

Race 7

PRINCESS ILARIA is better than her last start against stronger company over 1450m on the Classic course. She has finished third in both her efforts over this C&D. The 6yo mare takes a drop in class and on best form shown, she can go close.

FALCONFLY was an easy winner of her last start over 1800m on the Turffontein Inside course. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. She is in a good space and if fit, she should pose a massive threat.

FASHION NEWS was an easy winner on debut over 1450m on the Classic course. The daughter of Futura would have gained from the experience and should love the rise to 1600m. She takes on stronger, but could be anything and can remain unbeaten.

Race 8

BRISTOL HERCULES’ last start is best ignored as he was reported to be not striding out. He returns from a 10-week break which would have done him the world of good. He has won once, finished second twice and third once from eight starts over this distance. He drops in class and on best form shown, he can notch up his third-career victory.

DRIVELIKEAMASTER has finished second in his last three starts. He stayed on at the finish last time, but found one too good in the form of Father Christmas. The son of Master Of My Fate merits healthy respect.

BUDDY BOY returns from a 10-week break which may have done him the world of good. He finished third on this course, three runs ago. Gavin Lerena is booked to ride and he may be able to get the best out of him where it matters most.

Race 9

This is an open looking Merit Rated 66 Handicap and caution is advised. The tentative first choice is BLOOMINGTON from the Fabian Habib stable. He stayed on when fourth over 1600m on the Turffontein Inside course last time. The 7yo gelding drops in class and in this field, he can return to winning ways.

PRETTY ANALIA ran on from last when winning her last start over 1600m on the Turffontein Inside course. She received a three-pound penalty for that victory. She is in a good space and can follow up.

KYLIE’S ANGEL is better than her last two starts. She drops back in class and Muzi Yeni steps into the saddle. The daughter of Vercingetorix would not be a shock winner
