liverpool1819Our featured English Premier League matches taking place on Saturday 23rd December includes the top of the table clash between Liverpool and Arsenal and we also take a look at Spurs v Everton

Spurs 0.82/1 Draw 31/10 Everton 2.85/1

Spurs have reeled off back to back wins, 4-1 at home to Newcastle and most recently 2-0 at Forest. They are repairing the damage from a 5 match win-less streak where their only points return came from a 3-3 draw at Manchester City. Injuries and suspensions have played a big part but Spurs are still fifth in the table, just 1 point behind Manchester City who are involved in the Club World Cup this weekend.

Everton missed out on semi final place in the EFL Cup after they lost to Fulham on spot kicks at Goodison in midweek. In the EPL Everton are the form team and Saturday's 2-0 win at Burnley was their fourth straight win (all with a clean sheet) and their sixth in the last 8. Despite the 10 point deduction Everton now have 16 league points, 7 clear of the drop zone.

The Verdict

An opportunity for Spurs to move back into the top 4 but Everton are in good shape and it will need a top performance from the home side to win it.

Everton have been keeping things tight and whilst Spurs games are usually associated with plenty of goals, I'm going to take my chances with no more than 2 here.

Liverpool 14/10 Draw 26/10 Arsenal 18/10

Liverpool sealed a place in the EFL Cup semi finals with a 5-1 demolition of West Ham at Anfield on Wednesday. They made changes for that game although a lot of the regular starters played at least some part and there was nothing wrong with the outcome.

Liverpool have also progressed in the Europa League and they currently lie second in the EPL standings, 1 point behind Arsenal although Villa have the opportunity to take over at the summit when they host Sheffield United on Friday. Liverpool were below par in a 0-0 draw at home to Man United last weekend, a result which ended their 100% home record in the EPL at Anfield this season. Their only league defeat in the current campaign came 2-1 at Spurs.

Arsenal were comfortable enough in a 2-0 home win over Brighton last weekend and they were not in action in midweek. The Gunners went down 1-0 away to Aston Villa in their most recent road trip with their only other league defeat coming away to Newcastle (also 1-0). Aside from those defeats they were held 2-2 at Chelsea and they took maximum points from 5 other away fixtures.

Last season Arsenal were 3-2 winners when these teams met in London and the return at Anfield finished 2-2.

The Verdict

A tricky result to call but I fancy goals for both sides here and hopefully 1 more as the btts yes and over 2.5 combo is my main pick.

Alexander Arnold looks over priced to me to pop up with a goal any time.
