arsenal1819The second legs of the remaining two Uefa Champions League quarter finals take place on Wednesday when Bayern Munich and Arsenal resume all square at 2-2 and Manchester City and Real Madrid are level at 3-3.

Bayern 13/10 Draw 27/10 Arsenal 18/10

Last week's first leg in London finished 2-2. Saka gave Arsenal an early lead but Gnabry and a Harry Kane penalty had Bayern 2-1 up by half time. Trossard equalized on 76 minutes Both sides had penalty shouts denied and there was no further scoring.

Bayern overturned a 1-0 first leg deficit in their Round of 16 match up with Lazio with a 3-0 win in the second leg in Munich with Harry Kane bagging a brace.

Bayern were unbeaten in cruising through their group. They dropped points in just the 1 match, a 0-0 draw at home to runners up Copenhagen whilst Galatasaray were third and Manchester United were the big casualties in fourth.

Bayern are in second spot in the Bundesliga, 16 points behind Leverkusen who have sealed the title.

Arsenal booked their quarter final spot after edging past FC Porto on spot kicks. They were beaten 1-0 in Lisbon in the first leg and Trossard's goal in the return in London squared things up before the Gunners held their nerve in the shoot out. Arsenal were comfortable topping their group ahead of PSV with 4 wins, 1 draw and 1 defeat, Lens were third and Sevilla a distant fourth. Home form was perfect, 3 straight wins and no goals conceded.

After a run of 10 wins and 1 draw in their last 11 league games Arsenal went down 2-0 at home to Villa last weekend and they are now second in the EPL title race, level with Liverpool but 2 points behind Man City.

The Verdict:

Arsenal tripped up in the EPL last weekend but their defence has been outstanding since the turn of the year. They are likely to be severely tested here and I can't separate the teams, hence I'm on the draw in regulation time.

Man City 13/20 Draw 32/10 Real Madrid 3.75/1

Bernado Silva opened the first leg scoring in Madrid after just 2 minutes but an own goal and a Rodrygo strike saw Real 2-1 in front after just 14 minutes. It stayed that way until midway through the second half when Foden made it 2-2 and Gviardol made it 3-2 to City shortly afterwards. Real hit back through Valverde on 79 minutes and the game ended 3-3.

City beat FC Copenhagen 6-2 on aggregate in the Round of 16, winning both legs by a 3-1 scoreline. They also made short work of their group with a 100% record to finish 4 points clear of RB Leipzig with Young Boys third with 4 points and Red Star managed just a single point. City scored 3 goals in every away fixture in the group but only kept the 1 clean sheet.

Last season City pulled off a treble including this trophy, the EPL title and the FA Cup and they are currently top of the EPL, 2 points clear of Arsenal and Liverpool. City have also reached the FA Cup semi finals and since losing a league game at Villa on 6th December City are unbeaten in all competitions.

Real were made to work harder than expected to go through 2-1 on aggregate against RB Leipzig in the Ro16. They won the first leg 1-0 away from home before playing out a 1-1 draw in Madrid. Real Madrid came through their group with a 100% record, they had Napoli, who finished second, for company along with third placed Braga and Union Berlin were the also rans.

Real currently top La Liga, 8 points clear of Barcelona, they have lost just the 1 league game this season and they will host Barca this coming weekend.

When these teams met in the semi finals last season they drew 1-1 in Madrid and City were 4-1 winners in Manchester. In 2021/22 they also clashed in the semi's and Real went through 6-5 on aggregate thanks to a 3-1 win in the second leg in Madrid.

The Verdict:

This should be another cracker and although City might not find this as straight forward as last time they met Real in Manchester in the semi's I think they have 2-3 goals in them. Hopefully de Bruyne (I'm confident he will start) will get one of them.
