Liverpool are in the hunt for four major trophy's this season and on Wednesday they switch focus to the EFL Cup and home advantage in the first leg of their semi final match up with Fulham.
Liverpool
Liverpool are odds on favourites to win the EFL Cup this season, currently trading at around 8/10. Their cup run began with a 3-1 win at home to Championship high flyers Leicester and they subsequently came away from Bournemouth with a 2-1 victory. That set up a quarter final clash with West Ham at Anfield and Liverpool coasted to a 5-1 win.
Liverpool have also progressed to the Europa League knockout rounds and they currently top the EPL standings, 3 points clear of Villa and 5 better off than Man City and Arsenal although City have a game in hand.
At the weekend Liverpool scored 2 late goals in a 2-0 win away to Arsenal in the third round of the FA Cup and they are unbeaten at Anfield this season.
Fulham
Fulham beat Spurs on spot kicks after a 1-1 draw at Craven Cottage in their first EFL Cup action. They went on to beat Norwich 2-1 in another home fixture before a 3-1 win away to Championship promotion contenders Ipswich. They were on Merseyside for a quarter final clash with Everton at Goodison and after a 1-1 draw Fulham held their nerve to come through on penalty kicks.
In the EPL Fulham are just below half way in the EPL standings with 24 points and after 3 successive league defeats in December they returned to the winners box with a 2-1 win over Arsenal on New Years Eve.
Last weekend Fulham were 1-0 winners at home to Championship strugglers Rotherham in the third round of the FA Cup.
Recent Head to Head
The teams met at Anfield in a league game as recently as 3rd December and Liverpool came from 3-2 down to edge it 4-3.
The Betting
At the time of writing Liverpool are 1 / 3 to win the game with the draw at 4/1 and Fulham can be backed at around 52/10
A game of 3 goals or more is priced at 9/20 and it's 13/20 for both teams to score
Above markets are for this first leg
The Verdict
Liverpool rotated a few players for the win at Arsenal but still came out on top whilst Fulham will relish a crack at a rare chance of reaching a Wembley final.
I'm not sure it will be as easy for Liverpool as the match result betting suggests as Fulham gave them a real scare in the recent league game here.
Trent Alexander Arnold was my original choice for a goal scorer bet but he has since been ruled out injured, Jota is the back up
Bets: Anytime goalscorer Diogo Joga at 14/10 with BoyleSports
