football.soccercityKaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates clash in the DSTV Premiership on Saturday and the match result betting market suggests there will be little between the sides.

Kaizer Chiefs

Caretaker coach Cavin Johnson saw Chiefs chalk up a much needed win in midweek, 3-2 at home to bottom of the table Cape Town Spurs.

That was a fourth win of the season for Chiefs alongside 2 draws and also 5 defeats which led to the inevitable change in coach. Chiefs are seventh in the standings and they have scored 12 league goals and conceded 10. The gap to league leaders Sundowns is already 10 points and Down have 3 games in hand.

Chiefs' only home defeat in the league this season came against Cape Town City (1-0) early last month but they were also beaten at home by Amazulu (also 1-0) in the Carling Knockout.

Orlando Pirates

Pirates also gave themselves a boost in midweek with a 1-0 home win over Sekhukhune in the DSTV Premiership. The Bucs have played just the 9 league games and they are 2 points behind Chiefs in the standings with a record of 3 wins, 3 draws and 3 defeats, scoring 10 goals and conceding 8.

Pirates already have a trophy in the cabinet after beating Sundowns on spot kicks in the final of the MTN8 but since then they have exited the Carling Knockout (at Richards Bay in another shoot out) and their last away game in the league saw them beaten 2-1 at Cape Town Spurs who were gaining their only points of the season so far.

Head to Head

In last season's DSTV Prem meetings Chiefs won both games 1-0 but it was Pirates who were 2-1 winners in extra time when they clashed in a Nedbank Cup

semi final towards the end of the campaign.

Chiefs have won each of the last 5 DSTV Prem head to heads.

The Betting

Chiefs are trading at 18/10 to win the game with the draw priced at 1.85/1 and Pirates can be backed at around 17/10

A game of 3 goals or more is priced at 14/10 and it's even money for both teams to score.

The Verdict

I'm usually tempted to go with the draw in the these derby matches but we haven't seen these teams finish all square in any of the last 8 head to head's in the league. That said, there hasn't been more than a single goal in it and when it comes to placing a bet it's hard to be too confident about either side right now.

Mainly of gut feel, I'm with both sides to find the net

Bet: Both teams to score? (yes) at even money with Betway
