Sunday 5th April Sunrisers Hyderabad v Lucknow Super Giants

Venue: Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad

After losing their opening match away to RCB by 6 wickets (SH 201/9, RCB 203/4), the Sunrisers came up against the Knight Riders at Eden Gardens on Thursday and they put themselves on the board with a comfortable 65 run win. Batting first Head (46) and Abishek Sharma (48) put on 82 in just 5.4 overs and Klaasen added another 52 along with Nitish Reddy’s 39 in the Sunrisers total of 226/8. KKR was always battling in the chase and 3 wickets for Unadkat and 2 each for Reddy and Malinga saw the hosts bowled out for 161 in 16 of their 20 overs.

Lucknow Super Giants had to wait until Wednesday for their first action of the tournament, and it ended in disappointment as they went down at home to Delhi Capitals by 6 wickets. Batting first LSG were bowled out for 141 in 18.4 overs with Marsh (35) and Samad (36) the only batsmen to make more than 15 runs. At 26/4 they had Delhi in real trouble in the chase including 2 wickets for Prince Yadav but the Capitals regained their composure and completed the chase in 17.1 over without losing any further wickets.

Match Result Betting: Sunrisers 8/11 LSG 11/10

I prefer the strength of the batting to the bowling here and I’m with the top run scorer in the match, whoever he may be, to rattle up 76 or more.

Bets: Top Run Scorer total runs over 75.5 at 9/10 with WSB

Sunday 5th April Royal Challengers Bengaluru v Chennai Super Kings

Venue: M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru

RCB saw off the Sunrisers by 6 wickets in their opening match, chasing down their opponents bat first total of 201/9 in just 15.4 overs. Jacob Duffy with figures of 3/22 was the pick of the RCB bowlers, Shepherd also took 3 wickets but was much more expensive.  Kohli not out 69 and Paddikal 61 got RCB well on top of the CSK bowlers in what proved to be a comfortable win.

CSK started away to the Rajasthan Royals in Match 3 and they were thrashed by 8 wickets after being bowled out for just 127 all out. Their first home match saw them take on Punjab Kings on Friday and they lost again, this time by 5 wickets.  Batting first CSK posted 209/5 with Mhatre top scoring with 73 and Shivam Dube hit 45. The Kings top order all contributed, and they were generally ahead of the chase which was completed in 18.4 overs.

Match Result Betting: RCB 13/20 CSK 5/4

Facing a quick turnaround against an RCB side who have a few since winning their opening match CSK look up against it here. However, I’m boxing in with Mhatre to be their top batter. He missed out when I backed him in CSK opening game but impressed with the top score against Punjab and his price represents value.

Bets: Top CSK run scorer Mhatre at 5.25/1 with WSB

Monday 6th April Kolkata Knight Riders v Punjab Kings

Venue: Eden Gardens, Kolkata

KKR hosted the Sunrisers in Match 6 on Thursday and after a 65 run defeat they are still looking for their first points of the tournament. Despite 4 wickets for Muzarabani KKR found themselves chasing 227 for victory Raghuvanshi found 52 of them but they were bowled out for 161 in 16 overs. KKR had travelled to Mumbai for their opening match and they went down by 5 wickets. They posted 220/4 (Rahane 67, Raghuvanshi 51) but MI got home with 5 balls to spare.

The Kings began their tournament with a home fixture against Gujarat Titans and they came out on top by 3 wickets, restricting the Titans to 162/6 (Vyshak 3/34) before Cooper Connolly held things together (unbeaten on 72) as Punjab got up in 19.1 overs. Punjab then followed up with a 5 wicket win over the Super Kings in Chennai. They were tasked with hunting down 210 for victory and the top order all fired with Arya (39), Singh (43), Connolly (36) and Shreyas Iyer (50) breaking the back of a chase which was concluded with 8 balls to spare.

Match Result Betting: KKR 23/20 Punjab 7/10

Punjab have started well and there is plenty of pressure on KKR here. I’ll go with the Kings to hit the most sixes.

Bets: Punjab Kings to hit the most sixes at 9/10 with Sportingbet

Tuesday 7th April Rajasthan Royals v Mumbai Indians

Venue: Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati

After a thumping 8 wicket win (CSK 127 all out, RR 128/2) at home to CSK first time out the Royals visited Gujarat Titans in their second outing and they made it 2 wins from 2 when they held on for a 6 run victory. The Royals posted 210/6 at the Titans thanks to a 70 run opening partnership between Jaiswal (55) and Sooryavanshi (31) prior to Jurel’s 75. Ravi Bishnoi took 4 wickets in the Royals defence of the target.

Mumbai chased down KKR’s (220/4) in their first home fixture of the tournament to make a winning start. In their next outing they visited Delhi Capitals and although they were hot favourites they went down by 6 wickets. MI were restricted to 162/6 batting first with 51 from the skipper Yadav being the top score. Although MI took 2 early wickets in the chase Delhi regained their composure and got home with 11 balls to spare.

Match Result Betting: Royals 12/10 Mumbai 7/10

RR skittled CSK out for just 127 at this venue first up and now go in search of a third straight win but they come up against the tournament favourites. I’m looking for a big game from Bumrah for MI.

Bets: Top MI bowler Bumrah at 2.65/1 with WSB
