Our featured Betway Premiership action on Saturday is a big one for such an early stage of the season as Kaizer Chiefs go toe to toe with Mamelodi Sundowns
Kaizer Chiefs
Chiefs are the only side with two league wins from the first two Betway Premiership matches of the season and they set the early pace at the top of the standings. In midweek second half goals from Baartman and Shabalala were enough to see off Sekhukhune to take Chiefs up to 6 points. Chiefs began the new Betway Premiership season with a 3-1 win at newcomers Kruger United. They still look work in progress under the new coach but it was a positive start nonetheless with an early goal from Silva and after Kruger equalized on the stroke of half time a second half brace from Duba secured victory.
However it hasn’t all gone to plan for Chiefs who were firm favourites for their MTN8 home quarter final match up with Golden Arrows last weekend. They went down 1-0, creating the bulk of the chances which they failed to convert.
Mamelodi Sundowns
Sundowns were not in action in the opening round of Betway Premiership matches but they entered the fray in midweek and after a dramatic finish they edged out TS Galaxy 3-2. Downs were 1-0 up early doors through Brayan Leon but is all square by half time and Galaxy went in front on 77 minutes. Sphelele Mkhulise then turned things around, equalizing in the 88th minute and finding the winner in the fourth minute of injury time.
Sundowns first action of the new season delivered a 3-2 home win over Polokwane Ccity in the MTN8 last weekend. They conceded early but were 2-1 up by half time thanks to goals from Mokoena and van Wyk. Polokwane equalized to force extra time and Mailula popped up with the winner in the 113th minute
Recent Head to Head
Both of last season’s head to heads finished all square, 0-0 and 1-1. Purely looking at the league results Chiefs haven’t taken 3 points off Sundowns since April 2021
The Betting
At the time of writing Chiefs are 34/10 shots with the draw at 23/10 and Sundowns are favourites at 19/20

The Verdict
This comes plenty early enough in the new season but will tell us a lot about how Chiefs are shaping up under new management and their chances of being involved in the title race. I think there is a goal in both teams here.
