The pick of this weekend’s Betway Premiership coupon is undoubtedly Saturday’s clash between Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates at Loftus Versfeld
Before we take a look at the current form of both sides let’s take in the current standings at the top of the Betway Premiership and an outright betting update to win the title.

Sundowns have won 6, drawn 3 and lost 1 of their league matches so far, scoring 17 goals and conceding 5. Their only defeat came in their penultimate league outing, 1-0 away to Golden Arrows and since then they bounced back with a 4-1 home win over Richards Bay. Downs have won all 4 of their home fixtures with other dropped points coming in draws away to Chippa, Kaizer Chiefs and Marumo Gallants.
Away from league action Downs were knocked out of the MTN8 (by Pirates) at the semi final stage and they also bowed out of the Carling Knockout. On the plus side, Downs breezed through CAF Champions League qualifying and will represent South Africa in the group stage.
Orlando Pirates
Pirates have 2 games in hand on Sundowns and their league record comprises of 6 wins and 2 defeats, scoring 10 goals and conceding 2. The Bucs lost their first 2 matches, at home to Sekhukhune and away to Marumo Gallants but since then they have reeled off 6 stright wins, all with a clean sheet.
Aside from the Betway Premiership Pirates have already lifted the MTN8 trophy and they are also in the semi finals of the Carling Knockout. However the Bucs failed to reach the next stage of the CAF Champions League after bowing out on spot kicks to Saint-Eloi Lupopo of the DRC.
Recent Head to Head
The teams met in the MTN8 semi finals earlier in the season, both legs finished 1-1 and Pirates held their nerve to come through the penalty shoot out.
