Race 1
FORTHEGOODTIMES has finished third in both her efforts over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. It must be noted that the form of her last outing has been franked. The daughter of Master Of My Fate is a progressive type and if taking to the polytrack, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.
MIST IN MARYLAND was touched off in her last start over this C&D. She finished 1.3 lengths behind the top selection in her penultimate outing. She is having her peak run and from pole position, she should be competitive.
PACIFIC MOOD is better than her last start in the Grade 2 World Pool With Race Coast Debutante. She showed some promise in her first two career outings. The daughter of Malmoos is back in Maiden Company and she cannot be discounted.
Race 2
This is a weak Open Maiden and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is BIG DIPPER from the Gareth van Zyl stable. He took time to find his feet on debut over 1400m on the turf, but stayed on at the finish. The son of Querari would have gained from the experience. He may find the 1200m on the sharp side, but meets the right field and should make the natural improvement.
ROYAL SCEPTRE showed some improvement when third over this C&D last time. He raced from a handy position and stayed on at the business end. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
KA CHOW ran a fair race over 1000m on this course last time. The son of Buffalo Bill Cody steps up to 1200m and carries another light mass. If seeing out the extra distance on offer, he would not be a shock winner.
Race 3
KAAPSE KLOPSE was his own worst enemy on the turf last time as he over raced in the early stages. He finished 0.25 lengths behind VICTOR RAIL in his penultimate effort. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights this evening and that should be enough to turn the form around. The son of Rafeef should get a good run in transit from Barrier Two and can return to winning ways.
VICTOR RAIL was given a peach of a ride when winning his last start over this C&D. He received a four-pound penalty for that victory. The 7yo gelding always gives of his best and merits healthy respect.
MASTER SILVANO finished 1.95 lengths behind the second selection last time. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights tonight and should finish closer as a result. If switching off early, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 4
ALL ABOUT ME is better than his first run as a gelding as he was reported to be not striding out. He would have come on from the outing and should strip much fitter. The son of Rafeef may be ideally suited to this distance. He carries a handy galloping mass of 51kgs and has lots of scope for big improvement.
QUEEN OF DENMARK ran a good race when second over 1600m on the turf last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. She is coming along the right way and is one of the leading contenders.
BRIGHTSUNNYDAY rallied late when third over 1200m on this course last time. Keagan de Melo is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.
Race 5
CRIMSON FLAME is the top bet on the programme. He produced an eye-catching debut effort over 1600m on this course. He lost three lengths leaving the start, took time to find his feet but finished off his race strongly. He would have gained from the experience and should love the rise to 1800m. With the natural improvement that is expected, he should take a power of beating.
CALI BULLET is having her first outing for the Kelly Mitchley stable. She finished third in her only attempt over this C&D. If getting away on terms, she may be the one to fill the exacta spot.
TARANAKI NOMAD finished 1.9 lengths behind SCOTT‘S BAR last time. He is 5.5kgs better off at the weights tonight and that should be enough to turn the form around. The son of Savabeel has scope and can improve to finish in the placings.
Race 6
This is a competitive D Stakes field and caution is advised. The tentative first choice is I AM CLASSY from the Michael Roberts stable. He should have finished closer to the winner over this C&D last time. The son of Pomodoro has cracked pole position and he should get a good run in transit. If all goes according to plan, he can notch up his third-career victory.
MASK ON set the pace over 1600m on this course last time and stayed on to finish second. He steps up to 2000m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, he may be hard to peg back.
DANCING ON A CLOUD took on stronger in his last start over 1600m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. He drops back in class and gets the services of 4kgs claiming Apprentice Qiniso Ngcobo. His last victory came on this course and he can feature.
Race 7
GARDENER‘S PRIDE has shown good signs of a form return in his last two efforts. He set the pace over 1600m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time before getting outrun late by Double Olympic. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He has cracked a good draw of four and with just 54kgs on his back, he can go one better.
DAY TWO has good recent form to his name. He ran on when second over 2200m on the turf last time. With a bit of luck from the wide draw, he should pose a massive threat.
NO PRESSURE was an easy winner of his last start over this C&D. He received a five- pound penalty for that victory. Serino Moodley retains the ride and the combination merit healthy respect.
Race 8
THE WOLF ran a good race when second in his first outing for the in-form Kumaran Naidoo stable. He raced from a handy position and despite taking a keen hold in the early stages, he stayed on at the business end. The son of Master Of My Fate would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. With a bit of luck in running, he can go one better.
GREEN MILE found more to win his last start over 1400m on this course. He returns from a well-deserved 12-week break. If not in need of the run, he may be hard to peg back.
DAPPER returns from a 13-week break and is having his first outing for the Yadav Singh stable. The booking of Keagan de Melo is a big plus. He jumps from pole position and if fit, he should give a good account of himself
