Bulls:
The Bulls remain in eighth position with 6 wins alongside 6 defeats and with 30 log points they are just ahead of Connacht on points difference and one log point clear of the Ospreys. Looking up they are 11 points shy of a top 4 spot.
A catch up game at home to the Stormers last week offered the Bulls the opportunity to strengthen their hand in the composition of the play offs, they started the match as favourites, trading at around -8.5 points on the bookmakers main handicap line but they went down 32-19 and came away empty handed.
Prior to that the Bulls had been gaining momentum with wide margin derby wins over the Lons and the Sharks and they also won away to Edinburgh earlier this year. The Bulls only match against Welsh opposition so far this season came in Round 1 when they beat the Ospreys 53-40 at Loftus.

Cardiff:
Cardiff are fifth on the log with a record of 8 wins and 4 defeats. They have 40 log points just 1 fewer than the Stormers, Ulster and Leinster and 5 adrift of log leaders Glasgow Warriors. Looking down Cardiff have Munster on their heels 1 point behind and there is a 7 point gap to the seventh placed Lions.
Recent results include an 8-7 home win over Leinster at the end of February and prior to that they went down 21-14 away to Ulster.
One earlier match against South African opposition saw Cardiff beat the Lions 33-20 in a Round 1 home fixture, they will visit the Sharks next week and they host the Stormers in Round 18.
