VillaThird placed Aston Villa clash with English Premier League leaders Arsenal in the pick of Saturday's matches and both sides come into the game in top form

Villa

Villa were at home to Manchester City on Wednesday night and they put in a terrific performance and were full value for a 1-0 win courtesy of a goal from Leon Bailey in the 74th minute. That victory saw Villa move up to third spot, 2 points behind second placed Liverpool and 4 shy of Arsenal.

Villa have won all 7 of their league games in front of their own supporters this season, scoring 24 goals and conceding 5. Everton, Palace, Brighton, West Ham, Luton and Fulham were the other sides to have all been beaten at this venue in the current campaign.

At the time of writing @Playabets made Villa 27/1 to win the title this season and 1.75/1 to finish in the top 4.

Arsenal

Arsenal's midweek fixture saw them head to Luton on Tuesday night and they had to dig deep to edge a thrilling contest 4-3. They led 1-0 (Matinelli) and 2-1 (Jesus) before Luton fought back to go 3-2 up. Havrtz made it 3-3 with more than half an hour still play and Rice found the winner in the 97th minute.

The Gunners have recorded 4 successive league wins and come into the weekend 2 points clear at the top of the standings. Arsenal's only league defeat this season came away from home at Newcastle (1-0), they played out 2-2 draws at home to Fulham and Spurs and also drew 2-2 at Chelsea. Arsenal collected maximum points from 11 of 15 league outings.

@Playabets have Arsenal priced up at 11/4 to win the title this season with Man City favourites at 0.93/1 and Liverpool are 7/3 shots.

The Verdict:

I was expecting a lot more goals in the Villa v Man City clash but there was still plenty to like about how Villa went about what was arguably their task. Villa now face an Arsenal side for who 7 of their 11 wins have come by a single goal margin and my gut feel is Arsenal will edge it.

I'm with 2-1 Arsenal in the correct score market and will stick with Odegaard as an any time goalscorer.

Bets: Correct score Arsenal win 2-1 at 76/10 with Playabets

Anytime goalscorer Odegaard at 29/10 with Playabets
