VillaAston Villa put their 100% English Premier League home record on the line when they take on Manchester City in the pick of Wednesday night's matches.

Villa

A late equalizer from Watkins gave Villa a point from a 2-2 draw away to improving Bournemouth last weekend and they finished the round in fourth spot, 1 point behind City, 2 shy of Liverpool and 4 adrift of Arsenal (who go to Luton 24 hours before this game takes place).

Villa have won all 6 of their league games in front of their own supporters this season, scoring 23 goals and conceding 5. Everton, Palace, Brighton, West Ham, Luton and Fulham have all been beaten with daylight at this venue in the current campaign.

Man City

City played out a 3-3 draw at home to Spurs on Sunday, a game they led 2-1 at half time and 3-2 in the second half and a late Spurs equalizer saw them lose more ground in the title race.

That was a third successive draw for City after they had to settle for a point at home to Liverpool (1-1) and at Chelsea (4-4). They were also in winning positions in those matches and they have kept just 2 clean sheets in their last 12 league outings

Recent Head to Head

This fixture finished 1-1 last season whilst City were 3-1 winners in the return in Manchester

Villa's last league win over City came back in 2013.

The Betting

At the time of writing Villa are trading at 3.35/1 to win the game with the draw priced at 32/10 and City can be backed at around 7/10

A game of 3 goals or more is priced at 5/10 and it's 11/20 for both teams to score

Haaland is 3.65/1 to score the first goal and 19/20 to score anytime

Watkins is 8/1 to score the first goal and 9/4 to score anytime

The Verdict:

This is by far Villa's biggest test of the season and their home record deserves ultimate respect.

You have to think goals and my first anytime goalscorer pick is a cheeky one. Gut feel is Rico Lewis will get game time for City, he can slot in anywhere in midfield (Doku doubtful, Rodri suspended) and he looks a real handful.

Youri Tielemans played the whole game against Bournemouth and seems to have cemented his spot in the Villa midfield and he is also a big price.

Bets: Anytime goalscorer Rico Lewis at 11.5/1 with BoyleSports

Anytime goalscorer Youri Tielemans at 84/10 with BoyleSports
