arsenal1819Arsenal v Luton and Manchester City v Aston Villa are our featured English Premier League matches taking place on Wednesday and the two home sides are both overwhelming favourites.

Arsenal 1/10 Draw 9/1 Luton 19/1

Arsenal executed their game plan to perfection to come away from Manchester City with a 0-0 draw last weekend. The match never hit the heights with chances few and far between and although the result saw the Gunners knocked off top spot they seemed more than satisfied with the outcome.

Liverpool now lead the title race, 2 points clear of Arsenal with City a further point behind. The latest title odds from BoyleSports have Liverpool at 23/20, City at 19/10 and Arsenal at 24/10 and all 3 teams have 7 matches to play. Arsenal's goal difference is +46 compared to Liverpool's +40 and City's +35.

Despite taking an early lead at Spurs last weekend Luton eventually lost 2-1 and they have taken only 3 points from their last 9 games. One stat that may seem surprising is that Luton have contributed to the scoring in their last 18 league matches, including a 4-3 home defeat to Arsenal in early December and Liverpool had to settle for a 1-1 draw on their visit here. Luton come into the midweek program third from bottom, behind Forest on goal difference and 3 points behind Everton who also look to be in some trouble.

The Verdict

Luton are battling and especially away from home and this is an ideal opportunity for Arsenal to chalk up another win. It's a very one sided betting heat so lets look for a goalscorer and Odegaard is my choice.

Bets: Anytime goalscorer Odegaard at 1.85/1 with Betway

Man City 3/10 Draw 5/1 Villa 76/10

City created next to nothing against Arsenal and the now take on Villa who seem locked in a battle with Spurs for fourth place. City are unbeaten at home this season and of 3 league defeats on the road 1 of those came at Villa, 1-0 in December. Walker, Stones and Ederson all missed the Arsenal game so follow the team news and Ake picked up an injury which looks likely to keep him out.

Villa lost Watkins early in their 2-0 home win over Wolves at the weekend, they finished the round 3 points clear of Spurs who have a game in hand and visit West Ham 24 hours before this match kicks off. Away to title contenders Villa lost 3-0 at Liverpool early in the campaign and they have still to visit Arsenal.

The Verdict

City can't afford another “off day” and will want to take out Sunday's frustrations on a Villa side who have a tough run in and who are sweating on the fitness of their leading scorer.

Again the odds in mainstream markets for the home side are very cramped but with injury doubts in their defence I'm chancing that Rico Lewis will play some part and score.

Bets: Anytime goalscorer Rico Lewis at 9/1 with Betway
