wolves1819Four English Premier League matches take place on Saturday and our focus is on the clash between Wolves and Newcastle

Wolves

Unbeaten in their last 4 matches (2 wins and 2 draws) Wolves are in good shape and they come into the weekend program just below half way in the standings with 11 points. A 2-1 home win over Manchester City is their stand out result this season whilst they also played out a 1-1 draw with in form Aston Villa here recently. Brighton (4-1) and Liverpool (-1) did win here earlier in the season but Wolves have improved since then.

Newcastle

Newcastle have won 4 and drawn 1 of their last 5 Premier League games to move into the top 6. With 24 goals scored they are the top scorers in the EPL and 16 of those goals have arrived in the last 4 matches including an 8-0 win away to Sheffield United. More recently they drew 2-2 at West Ham and last weekend they were 4-0 winners at home to Palace.

In midweek Newcastle lost 1-0 at home to Dortmund in the Champions League and Isak and Jacob Murphy both picked up knocks so watch the teams news there. To make matters worse Tonali has copped a 10 month ban for his involvement in a betting scandal whilst Botman is reportedly still out and Harvey Barnes remains a long term injury absentee.

Recent Head to Head

This fixture finished 1-1 last season whilst the return saw Newcastle come out on top 2-1

The Betting

At the time of writing Wolves are trading at 33/10 to win the game with the draw priced at 3/1 and Newcastle can be backed at 8/10

A game of 3 goals or more is priced at 15/20 and it's the same price for both teams to score

The Verdict:

Newcastle are the form side but their injury news isn't great and as Wolves proved against Manchester City, they are a more than useful side on their day. It's a fairly speculative play but I'm with the home side to win.

Wolves striker Matheus Cunha is hardly prolific but he was on target last week in a win at Bournemouth and looks a handy player to me so he provides the anytime goalscorer interest.
