Mamelodi Sundowns
Sundowns began their quest for a seventh successive domestic league title with a 2-1 win away to Sekhukhune in Polokwane on Friday of last week. Peter Shalulile opened the scoring for Downs from the penalty spot after just 10 minutes and shortly afterwards Sekhukhune were reduced to 10 men. Downs had to wait until the 56th minute to add to their lead through Lucas Costa. The lead was halved on the hour mark and in the closing minutes Sundowns had Rivaldo Coetzee red carded but there was no further scoring.
Looking ahead Sundowns will host Swallows in the MTN8 on Saturday. Downs are overwhelming favourites at around 3/10 with Betway to win another PSL title this season.
Kaizer Chiefs
Chiefs began their DSTV Premiership campaign against Chippa United on Sunday and the game which was staged in Durban finished without a goal. It was a first league game in charge for Molefi Ntseki and although there were a few chances for both sides neither could find the net.
Chiefs finished all of 26 points behind Sundowns last season, missing out on the top 4 and they handed debuts to 4 of their new signings on Sunday. After this they visit Cape Town City in the MTN8 on Sunday.
Chiefs are trading at around 11/1 with Betway to win the PSL title this season.
Recent Head to Head
Downs did the double over Chiefs last season winning 4-0 at home and the return ended 1-0 in their favour.
In the 21/22 campaign Sundowns knocked Chiefs out of the MTN8 on spot kicks after a 2-2 draw. Sundowns also won the first league meeting, 2-0 on home turf and the return finished all square at 1-1.

In the early betting Sundowns are trading at around 7/10 to win the game with the draw at 5/2 and Chiefs can be backed at around 38/10

The Verdict
Given Sundowns conceded just 13 league goals last season it was a surprise they didn't keep a clean sheet at weekend against a side who played the bulk of the game with 10 men.
After Chiefs failed to find the net in their opening match we might see Sundowns resume normal service here with another win “to nil”
