VillaTwo English Premier League matches take place on Sunday as West Ham host Arsenal Aston Villa have home advantage against Manchester United

West Ham 9/2 Draw 32/10 Arsenal 0.57/1

West Ham were beaten 3-0 away to Manchester United last weekend, snapping a run of 3 successive draws, at home to Brighton (0-0) and Bournemouth (1-1) either side of a 2-2 draw at Sheffield. They finished the previous round in seventh spot with 36 points, 2 shy of sixth placed Manchester United.

Arsenal boosted their title hopes with a 3-1 home win over Liverpool last weekend. That was a third successive victory after a wobble heading into the turn of the year and then an early exit from the FA Cup. Champions League football for Arsenal doesn't resume until 21st February and as far as the title race is concerned the Gunners are level on points with Man City and 2 shy of leaders Liverpool (City have a game in hand).

The Verdict

West Ham were 2-0 winners at the Emirates in late December and they have also beaten Arsenal in the EFL Cup this season, 3-1 in a home fixture. However they have been below par in recent weeks and Arsenal are re-gaining momentum.

I'm going to take my chances on Arsenal to win both halves of football

Aston Villa Draw Manchester United

Villa lost an FA Cup replay 3-1 at home to Chelsea in midweek, they will be involved in the Europa League once the qualifiers have taken place but in the meantime they can focus on finding some consistency in the league after winning 2, drawing 2 and losing 2 of their last 6 EPL games. Their unbeaten home record in the league came to an end when Newcastle were 3-1 winners here recently but they recovered last week with a 5-0 win at Sheffield. Villa finished the previous round in fourth spot, 2 points clear of Spurs and 3 shy of Arsenal and City.

United's 3-0 home win over West Ham moved them within 6 points of fifth placed Spurs and 8 behind Villa. They edged a 7 goal thriller in their most recent road trip, 4-3 at Wolves and their away record now comprises of 6 wins, 1 draw and 5 defeats.

The Verdict

I've still got plenty of question marks over Man United and Villa have blown hot and cold lately so none of the 3 possible outcomes in the match result market would surprise me.

United were 3-2 winners at home to Villa in the first league meeting this season and gut feel is that with Villa have being picked off 3 times by Newcastle and Chelsea in recent week's, their could be a couple of goals for the visitors here.

Bets: Man United total goals, over 1.5 at 12/10 with Sportingbet
