SpursStadiumOur featured English Premier League match taking place on Saturday sees Spurs host Brighton and the bulk of the stats point to a high scoring game

Spurs

Spurs conceded a late equalizer in a 2-2 draw at Everton last weekend and they finished the round in fifth spot, 2 points behind Villa, 5 shy of Arsenal and Manchester City and 7 adrift of league leaders Liverpool (note City have a game in hand on the rest of the title challengers).

Spurs have scored 49 goals this season and conceded 35 and we have seen at least 4 goals in total in each of their last 5 league outings. They have won their last 4 home fixtures in the EPL, against Newcastle (4-1), Everton (2-1), Bournemouth (3-1) and Brentford (3-2)

Son is back in town after the Asia Cup and watch the team news for news as to whether he will start.

Brighton

Brighton returned to form with a 4-1 home win over Palace last weekend and finished the round in eighth spot with 35 points, 9 shy of Spurs.

They have scored 42 goals and conceded 38 and in their most recent EPL road trip they crashed and burned 4-0 away to Luton. Piro to that they played out a couple of 0-0 draws at away to West Ham and at home to Wolves but those stalemates stand out in a season where Brighton games have generally been high on goal with both sides finding the net.

Brighton also welcome Mitoma back from Asia Cup duty so their team news will also be worth monitoring.

Recent Head to Head

The first league meeting this season took place as recently as the 28th December and Brighton won it 4-2

The corresponding fixture in London last season finished 2-1 in favour of Spurs.

The Betting

At the time of writing Spurs are trading at 17/20 to win the game with the draw priced at 32/10 and Brighton can be backed at around 11/4

A game of 3 goals or more is priced at 4/10 and it's also 4/10 for both teams to score

The Verdict:

Spurs only have the EPL to focus on for the remainder of the season and that should aid their chances of a top 4 finish. Meanwhile it's going to a busy time for Brighton with European and further FA Cup involvement to come and they have blown more cold than hot in recent EPL matches although last week's 4-1 win over Palace will be a boost.

Brighton are a very useful side on their day but given Spurs' sole focus is on the league I'm with a home win here in a game of 3 goals or more
