The first English Premier League match of the New Year comes from Anfield on Monday where Liverpool are short priced favourites to claim maximum points from their clash with Newcastle
Liverpool
At the time of writing Liverpool top the standings although they could be overhauled by Arsenal who visit Fulham a day before this game takes place.
The last 2 league games at Anfield both ended in draws as Manchester United dug in for a 0-0 stalemate before Arsenal's visit ended 1-1. Prior to that Liverpool won their first 7 league matches in front of their own supporters and most recently they returned to the winners enclosure with a 2-0 victory away to Burnley.
Newcastle
Newcastle were turned over 3-1 at home to Forest last time out and prior to that they went down 1-0 at Luton. They have won just once in the EPL away from home this season, drawing 2 and losing 6 and that is the second worst away record in the top flight. With 4 defeats in their last 5 Newcastle have slipped back into mid table and are currently 11 points shy of a top 4 spot.
Recent Head to Head
The teams met at St. James Park back in August and Liverpool came from behind to win 2-1 with a late brace from Darwin Nunez.
Liverpool won this fixture 2-1 last season and they have won each of the last 5 head to heads.

At the time of writing Liverpool are trading at 0.47/1 to win the game with the draw priced at 3.95/1 and Newcastle can be backed at around 48/10

The Verdict:
I'm a little sceptical about Newcastle's chances of registering a goal but they should still carry a threat and after much consideration I'll go with the BoyleSports price boost for Mo Salah to score anytime, Liverpool to win and both teams to find the net.
